A teenage boy (Jake Gyllenhaal) escapes death when a jet engine falls on his house. He then starts seeing a six foot tall blue rabbit that tells him the world will end in 28 days and leads him to commit several crimes. His behaviour becomes increasing disturbed that causes trouble at school but a new girl at the school (Jena Malone) becomes his friend. His parents sent him to a psychiatrist (Katharine Ross) and the school uses a motivational speaker (Patrick Swayze). Jake Gyllenhaal gives a good performance as the disturbed teenager and the film is well produced as it weaves the different strands and themes together.
