Oliver Cromwell leads the parlimentarian cause in its fight with King Charles I over the divine right of kings to rule and how England is to be governed. against the back drop of the reformation and protestant /catholic divide. The film gives a reasonably accurate version of the civil, but as is always the case a feature film will never capture all complex sublties of the characters, politics and religion of the period.THat said Ricahrd Harris and Alec Guiness give good performances along with a strong British cast.
