Comment/Synopsis

A surgeon (Boris Karloff) trying to develop an anaesthetic for painless operations ends up getting addicted to the opiate preaparation he makes and tests on himself. There is a sub-plot of him getting involved in signing fake death certificates for a group of murderers who were blackmailing him. There is also a romantic aside between Betta St John and Francis Matthews but both are bland characters.
