Comment/Synopsis

A land girl is sent to Kent during World War 2. She arrives in a small village in the evening when she meets an American soldier and a stranger suddenly apears and pours glue over her head. They team up with a Britsh soldier to discover who the mysterious man is. This British film was made during the war and is a curious mix of propaganda and life in rural England during World War 2 as well as linking back to the past with themes of pilgrimage. The characters are very much down to earth. Given when it was made the production quality and photography are good, even if the dialogue is somewhat stilted. Despite this it was not a commercial success.
