A married man (Wallace Reid) takes it upon himself to try and improve the lot of three women (Wanda Hawley, Agnes Ayes, Bebe Daniels), but with unforeseen results and to the dismay of his wife (Gloria Swanson). This is a beautifully filmed melodrama from Cecil B DeMille using some inventive techniques. All three women use their femininity to get money out of him making it a type of morality play. Gloria Swanson has a down played role, but has one great scene where she is hypnotized to walk across a stream and then seductively takes off her shoes and stockings. This is a good example of how silent films did melodrama mixed with morality in the pre-code, silent world.
