Comment
Mae West (born Mary Jane West) was an actress on stage and films as well as being a playwright. She was known for her sexual double entendres and distinctive husky voice. Her plays and films often ran foul of the censors particularly after the Hayes Code was being enforced after 1934 in films which removed much of their appeal.
