Sissy Spacek is a successful American actress whose career has spanned 40 yearrs. Early in her career she was a singer and model and then her cousin Rip Torn got her into Lee Strasberg's Actors Studio and her acting career took off from there. Her first credited film role was in Prime Cut, this was followed by Badlands and was a film that in some ways sets the style of charcter for her career, with an innocence as well as cool calculation. It was her performance in Carrie that brought her to major stardom and was a huge success. She was Oscar nominated for her performance which was unusal for a horror film. In the Coal Miner's Daughter she sang all the songs in the film herself. Her next major film was Missing and then The River, for which she was Oscar nominated for both films. Another Oscar nomination came for her performance in Crimes of the Heart which has more comedy than many of her films. In JFK and Affliction she plays the wife of the one of the main charcters. Blast from the past was a change of style into a family comedy. In The Bedroom is a strong emotional drama and a performance that gained her another Oscar nomination. In several of her films in the 2000's she had comparatively small roles but the were significant and powerful.
