His first leading role was in Bird a biopic of Charlie Parker. He then appeared in some thrillers (The Crying Game, Blown Away). Phenomenon is a science fiction drama. Panic Room and Phone Booth were crime thrillers. The Last King Of Scotland is a fictional account of Idi Amin in Uganda and won him a Best Actor Oscar. In Rogue One he entered the Star Wars universe and Black Pather in in the Marvel universe.
