In the desert a scientist iss (Leo G Carroll) is developing a synthetic food to help feed the world but when fed to animals makes them grow quickly into giant versions of themselves. The problems start when a giant tarantual escapes and starts killing the locals. A new research assistant (Mara Corday) helps the local doctor (John Agar) and the police stop the tarantula. This is an early Universal Pictures creature feature and set the tone for many that followed in the 1950s. There is a brief uncredited cameo from Clint Eastwood in one of his earlyiest film appearances.
