During a mission to mars a storm forces the team to take off and leave one of the crew on the surface, presumed dead. However he survives and he has to work out how to survive along on Mars whilst the rest of the crew and ground control try to find a way to bring him safely back to earth. Although set on mars, it is about being alone and surviving alone in a hostile environment. Matt Damon gives a good performance as the man coming to terms with his human frailty and using science to survive in a hostile environment. The film revolves around Matt Damon, and he is well supported by a strong supporting cast. Ridley Scott has produced a visually impressive film.
