At the begining of the Russian revolution a British man (Robert Donat) who has lived in Russia is recruited by the British Secret Service to spy on the revolutionaries. He gets sent to a prison camp and then ends up helping a rich countess (Marlene Dietrich) to escape from the Red Army.
