A young orphan is abused at her school and eventually leaves and get a job as a nanny in the adaptation of the Charlotte Bronte novel. The film is dominated by the performance of Orson Welles as Mr Rochester and Joan Fontaine as Jane Eyre. Although not credited, the film is influenced by Orson Welles behind the camera direction.
