Comment
In the austerity of post-war Britain an Treasury officia (Cecil Parker) inherits a large sum of money and has to dal with how different members of his family want to spend the money. His wife (Hermione Baddeley) wants so spend it and raise their standing in society, his son (Dirk Bogarde) want to use it for a questionable investment and his daughter (Sheila Sim) wants nothing to do with the money. It is the performance of Glynis Johns that makes this films as the secretary caught between the father and son. An entertaining British comedy that reflects the attitudes of the post-war period.
