This is a wonderful Mel Brooks spoof of the early black and white Frankenstein horror movies. The jokes may not be subtle, but they are amusing and well worked by director Mel Gibson and lead actor Gene Wilder. This may be a horror story but this is definitely a comedy version with Marty Feldman's moving hump one of several excellent visual jokes. There are good performances from Marty Feldman as Igor the butler, Cloris Leachman as the forboding house keeper, Terri Garr as the the beautiful assistant and Madeline Kahn as the fiancé.
