Comment/Synopsis

The son (James Stewart) of a wealthy business man (Edward Arnold) is in love with his secretary (Jean Arthur) and proposes to her. However their families are very different, one about money and status and the other about fun and friendship. When they meet up there is the inevitable clash and fall out. This is an entertaining class of cultures and lifestyles that is well directed by Frank Capra who brought together a large and impressive cast for this film that won him a best director Oscar.
