Gregory Peck leads a gang of bank robbers across a desert and just on the point of death they find a town that is deserted except for a tomboy woman (Anne Baxter) and her grandfather. The robbers discover that the two have been prospecting for gold and decide to rob them, but one attractive woman and 6 outlaws can only lead to problems, especially in Indian country. This is not the usual shoot 'em up western, but more of a character study with good performances from both Gregory Peck and Anne Baxter.
