The daughter and her friend of a wealthy couple is left in the care of a new gaurdian (Stephanie Beacham) when they go abroad for their health, However the guardian has designs on the family fortune and packs the children off to a working victorian orphanage to be labour in a washing business. This is an well constructed childrens drama based on a novel with a good performance from Stephanie Beachem as the woman who wants the money and status of the family.
