Comment/Synopsis

A man (Lon Chaney Jr) returns to his father's (Claude Rains) castle and after taking two women to a gypsy fair one of them is attacked and killed by a wolf. He kills the wolf but it turns out it was a werewolf and he is bitten and also turns into a werewolf. He tries to deal with what is happening to him whilst falling in love with the other woman (Evelyn Ankers). There is a good performance from Lon Chaney Jr particularly as he changes into the wolf. There is good support from Claude Rains, Evelyn Ankers and Maria Ouspenskaya as the fortune teller. Bela Lugosi has only a brief appearance. The plot was reused in 2010 film Wolfman.
