Harrison Ford ia a cynical big city policeman who takes refuge in an Amish community to protect a young boy who has witnessed a murder. He falls in love with the boys mother (Kelly McGillis) and learns about relationships and a new set of values. This is a stylish film from Peter Weir that uses the differences with the Amish community in a creative and sympathetic way. The scene where the barn is built in a day was actually built in a day by the cast and crew.
