A man (Michael Redgrave) working on the construction of Waterloo Bridge is travelling to work on a train when he sees what he thinks is a woman being murdered through the window of a flat. It is not what it seems and he does get drawn into the strange relationship between the man (Paul Lukas) and the woman (Sally Gray) who are a stage magician and his assistant, but at the expense of the relationship with his wife (Patricia Roc). This is a good British drama that is set against a working class background but with the allure of wealth and fame. There are good performances from Michael Redgrave as the man tempted by the beautiful blonde, Sally Gray as the blonde femme fatale and Patricia Roc as the long suffering wife.
