The body of a woman is found on a native American reservation so an inexperienced FBI agent (Elizabeth Olsen) is sent to investigate. She is is helped by a local hunter and comes up aginst the cultural complexities of the reservation. On one level this is crime drama but it is also about grief and culture. It mixes slow burning suspense with suddenbloody violence and rape. Taylor Sheridan wrote and directed this and whilst some parts are shocking violence it is well constructed, filmed and keeps the attention all the way through. A film to appreciate rather than enjoy.
