An academic who is trying to write a book, takes his wife (Ingrid Bergman) to a remote cabin in the mountains where she starts an affair with their married neighbour (Anthony Quinn). This is a gentle romance between mature people and there is great on screen chemistry between Anthony Quayle and Ingrid Bergman. Ingrid Bergman was past the peak of her career but she still commands the scenes she is in and has a great scene with her daughter where they discuss what it means to be a woman, a career woman, a parent and a grandparent.
