A woman (Ann Sheridan) kills a man in her house and tells her husband (Zachary Scott), lawyer (Lew Ayres) and the police that it was self-defence. However it then transpires that she had been having an affair with him. This is a good piece of post-war drama, with solid though not inspiring performances from Ann Sheridan, Lew Ayres and Zachary Scott as the main characters. There is good support from Eve Arden as the family friend and Marta Mitrovitch as the dead mans wife. This is a remake of the story used in the The Letter, but suffers from being to long and to wordy.
