Comment/Synopsis

A priest (Christopher Lee) who is excommunicated from the church and sets up a cult with the purpose of creating a person who will provide the body for the incarnation of the devil. The daughter (Nastassja Kinski) of Denholm Elliott is chosen at her birth to be that person on her 18th birthday. This was the last of Hammer's films and suffers from having a slow and meandering plot, in what is more satanic ritual than horror and despite being based on a Dennis Wheatley novel. This is a disappointing film despite a competent cast.
