The eternal love triangle is played out as two men fight for the affections of one woman in the stone age, Roman times and the present (1920's). This is a good mix of romantic comedy, send ups of historical periods and typcal Buster Keaton physical comedy. Buster Keaton is well supported by Margaret Leahy (in her only film) as the romantic interest and Wallace Beery as his competition. Some of the scenes show Buster Keaton's creative talent at it's best, like the lion having its paws manicured and a chariot race in the snow with Keaton using dogs instead of horses. In one scene he missed judged a jump between buildings and his injuries delayed shooting but he did cut the scene into the final film as it was imoressively effective.
