As in the first film (Terminator), a cyborg is sent back in time to kill the leader of the resistance of humans against the machines. More of the same with Arnie being chased by an even more indestructible cyborg and includes the classic line "Hasta la vista, baby". In this film the Terminator is the good character instead of the bad guy. This time though James Cameron had the funding to this on a bigger scale making the sequel visually more impressive. This film was the first to use CGI to create, at least in part, the main character in the film and also used the newly developed technology of motion capture and a great example of James Cameron pushing the boundaries of what he can produce. It is this that made this film a revolution in special effects made by Industrial Light And Magic. What James Cameron does is to make a sequel that builds and improves on the first film.
