A successful director of comedy films decides he wants to make a film about the poor. When told that he knows nothing about the poor, he decides to go travelling as a tramp with no money. Preston Sturges has produced a film that mixes social examination and comedy. There is a good performance from Joel McCrae in the lead and Veronica Lake as the woman he meets on his journey.
