In 1985 a working class boy (James McAvoy) starts at Bristol University where he gets onto the Unviversity Challenege quiz team and learns more of life, relationship and love through his friendship with two very different female students, one the intellectual friend (Rebecca Hall) and one the worldly blonde (Alice Eve). The film evokes the style and mood of 1985 and has a funny script that also has more depth than the standard rom-com, as it explores james McAvoys character and relationships.
