A woodcutter takes in an abandoned child who grows up thinking he is a prince and after being rude to a beggar woman who is actually his mother is cursed by a fairy to become ugly. He has various adventures in his attempt to find his mother and apologise. This film has a cast mainly of children in a fantasy land with a mix of live animals and stop-action animals. Unusually for the time, this film was made by a woman.
