This is little gem of a low budget feel good British film. Shaun Evans has a chance meeting with Bob Hoskins in a restaurant. As a result he moves to London with his mother (Lesley Manville) who is an aspiring singer. He gets a job as a waiter where he meets Stockard Channing who then gives hima job as they start an affair. Things get more complicated when he meets and falls in love with Amanda Ryan, without knowing that she is the daughter of Stockard Channing. There is a real charm in the performances of Bob Hoskins and Lesley Manville as their relationship develops and Stockard Channing is good as the feisty PR woman around whom all the complex relationships revolve.
