Kate Hudson is a nurse who gets a job looking after John Hurt who has had a stroke and lives in a dark southern house. As she starts to investigate the house, she uncovers an old Hoodoo curse linked to the murder of of a servant in the past and whose ghost still haunts the house. Kate Hudson gives her best performance in this dark and brooding film and is well supported by Gena Rowlands performance as John Hurt's wife
