Lee Marvin and Roger Moore are adventurers in Africa shooting game but cross swords with a German soldier in the run up to World War 1. When the German kills the daughter of Roger Moore and Barbara Parkins they are drawn into a path of revenge that leads to an attack on a German warship. This is a curious mix of action, romance and war film but with an entertaining performance from Lee Marvin. The film is based on the novel by Wilbur Smith.
