Comment/Synopsis

A young woman goes to New York to look for her missing sister and discovers a satanic cult. Her search leads her to various people with different reasons for wanting to help or hinder her and help or harm her sister. The acting is mixed with the best performances from Kim Hunter and Jean Brooks as the two sisters. The story unfolds well during the course of the film and there is stylish production from Val Lewton, most notably the scene of Jean Brooks being followed down the street that has echoes of Cat People.
