A woman (Kim Stanley) who runs seances with her meek husband (Richard Attenborough) comes up with a plan to bring herself publicity by kidnapping a child (Judith Donner) and then using the seances to to show how she solved the crime. This is a well written and directed film from Bryan Forbes that has drama and suspense. The key performance is from Kim Stanley as the woman with distinct and disturbingly psychotic tendancies for which she got an Oscar nomination.
