An American publisher goes to Scotland to persuade a writer to complete the final book of his series of books. He is working as a ski instructor and she goes undercover as a student on vacation. After the first few scenes this plot line disappears and it turns into a romance of someone pretending to be someone else and little connection with Christmas. Stangely she then discovers that despite being illegitimate he is actually a Duke. The film is let down by its weak plot.
