Comment/Synopsis
Edward G Robinson is a middle aged bank employee who intervenes when he sees Joan Bennett being beaten by boyfriend Dan Duryea. Edward G Robinson tells Joan Bennett he is a successful artist and so she and her boyfriend con him out of money. However the scam becomes increasing complex with tragic consequences. Joan Bennett gives a good performance as the lover playing off the men in the classic femme fatal film noir style, but Edward G Robinson is oddly miscast, but does give a good performance.
