A newspaper editor (Broderick Crawford) going under a new names accidentally kills his estranged wife and his enthusiastic young reporter (John Derrek) sets out to get the story. However the reporter keeps ignoring the evidence and not beleiving witnessess, but the female reporter (Donna Reed) with better morals keeps him going in the right direction. Broderick Crawford is good as the man seeing the noose closing in on him and there is good support from Donna Reed as the sensible reporter but John Derek's character is not convincing in his attitude to reporting.
