A father (John Wayne) and his adopted son (Montgomery Clift) drive their herd of cattle across country but a rift develops between them. Howard Hawkes has produced a good western that gives a good impression of what it was like to be a cowboy driving cattle. In a way the story is very simple but it is the interplay between the two main leads that make the film.
