The adopted teenage daughter (Allene Roberts) of a man (Edward G Robinson) and his sister (Judith Anderson) starts to explore some woods with her friend (Lon McCallister), but this triggers old memories that leads to tragedy. This is a dark suspenseful melodrama about dark secrets being gradually revealed against awakening teenage love. There is a good performance from Edward G Robinson slowly unravelling as his past starts to be exposed and he is well supported by Judith Anderson as his sister. There is also a good performance from Allene Roberts as the teenager realising that her adopted father is unhinged and at the same time involved in a love triangle with Lon McCallister and Julie London. The film builds slowly but it is effective.
