In a dystopian future where most of the world escapes the harsh reality of the real world by joining in an immersive virtual reality world. When the creator of the world dies he leaves a message that there is a hidden pize of owning the game by finding and solving 3 clues. A boy (Tye Sheridan) teams up with a young woman (Olivia Cooke) and some friends to solve the clues whilst a rival evil corporation is out to stop them in both the real and online worlds. Steven Spielberg has produced a fast paced visually impressive film with lots of references to 1980s culture including the films Back To The Future and The Shining. One to enjoy the visuals rather than analysing the plot or character development.
