Workmen digging an extension to the London Underground discover apparently human skeletons and what then think is a missile from the war but it turns out to be an alien spcecraft. This is a good mix of horror and sci-fi that explores the possiblility that human evolution was influenced by Martians. There are good performances from Andrew Keir as Quatermass and Barbara Shelley as the female assistant (despite the limited roles given to women in sci-fi films of thie period).
