Robin Wright Penn recalls her life through a series of flashbacks, from her childhood with a drug addicted mother (Maria Bello) to her marriage to a much older man (Alan Arkin). The incidents in her life cover drugs, suicide, adultery, but the film ignores the consequences of these actions and they seem to have little impact on her. As a result you have little emotional engagement with her and the film ultimately leaves you unsatisfied. That said there are good performances from Robin Wright Pennas a the older Pippa Lee and Blake Lively as the younger and more wild Pippa Lee. THere is good support from Alan Arkin as the older man she meets and marries and Winona Ryder as the younger woman he has an affair with.
