Comment/Synopsis

The story of the love affair and related politics between Elizabeth 1 (Bette Davis) and Lord Essex (Errol Flynn). This is the Hollywood version of British history and is slow, wordy and shot on just a few sets. Despite several big namess in the cast (Bette Davis, Errol Flynn and Olivia de Haviland) none of them give convincing performances as their characters. This was Vincent Price's second film role.
