A man (alan Curtis) is charged with the murder of his wife, but his alibi is a woman that nobody else claims to have seen. He spent the evening with the woman but everyone who would have seen them together claims he was on his own. The only way to identify the woman is her hat and his adoring secretary (Ella Raines)is determined to find the woman and prove his innocence. This is a well constructed mystery from director Robert Siodmak.
