Comment/Synopsis

A small New England town is rocked when when hypocrisy, sexual immorality and violence are exposed. As world war 2 approaches and the teenages become adults they start rebelling and exploring their sexuality whilst exposing the inconsistent morality of the adults leading the town. The film has a mix of coming of age, romance, courtroom drama as well as violence, and gives an insight into the attitudes of small town America in the 1940's. The film centers around the three female leads who were all Oscar nominated.
