A teenage boy discovers that he is actually a demi-god and the half mortal son of Poseidon. After Zeus's lightening bolt is stolen and his mother kidnapped, he and his two friends set out to save her and recover the lightening bolt. This is Greek mythology meeting contemporary life, think Harry Potter in Greek Mythology. The plot is not particularly strong, the effects are not great and the good cast is generally underused. Logan Lerman is not convincing as a teenage hero, though Alexandra Daddario is better as his sword weilding friend, but the best performances come from Catherine Keener as his put upon mother and Uma Thurman as Medusa.
