A private investigator is asked by a friend to start an investigation, but when the friend is killed he is drawn into a dangerous criminal plot. This is a good British version of the Film Noir style, with Rod Cameron as the out of his depth private eye, Marianne Stone as the put upon secretary and Lois Maxwell as the femme fatale. The plot is suitably convoluted for this style of film.
