The residents of a London boarding house who are struggling to cope with their lives, have them turned upside down by the arrival of a mysterious stranger. Conrad Veidt gives a brooding performance as the srtanger and there is good support from Rene Ray as the maid with a criminal background and Anna Lee as the woman in love with one of the residents but being married off to another resident for his money. This is a good British comedy drama.
