When the husband (Maurice Chevalier) of a happily married couple is introduced to his wife's (Jeanette MacDonald) best friend (Genevieve Tobin), the friend sets out to have an affair with him but her husband (Roland Young) wants a divorce and so is having her followed. This is a good musical romance with Maurice Chevalier being tempted by the sassy Genevieve Tobin. Maurice Chevalier is good with his songs and speaking directly to the camera. The sections of rhyming dialogue adds to the romantic feel of the film. Jeanette MacDonald also sings and is good as the wife caught up in her friends romantic games. Ernst Lubitsch enhances the film with his direction and production leading to the film getting a Best Picture Oscar nomination. This was Lubitsch's remake of his own silent version of the play as The Marriage Circle (1924).
