T J Lowther is a young boy who lives with his aunt Julie Harris in rural America during the depression. He is sent to visit his father, Henry Winkler in the city, a con man who develops a relationship with Swoosie Kurtz and Katherine Hepburn develops a friendship with the child. This is not a typical Christmas film and one of the last that Katherine Hepburn made.
